The Challenge

Sparda-Bank Berlin was in the process of preparing their CSRD report and lacked insight into current ESG topics. While some stakeholders had been included in the materiality analysis, the perspectives of their customers and the general public had not been considered. The project's aim was to capture these perspectives through a targeted survey, focusing on the population in the bank's operating area, with a specific focus on Sparda-Bank customers and those familiar with the bank.

Our Approach

We developed a online survey, conducted both among the general public in the bank's operating area and specifically with Sparda-Bank Berlin customers. A key element of the survey was to identify which ESG aspects were particularly important to respondents. Topics included specific factors such as climate change, diversity, fair working conditions, and data protection. Additionally, Sparda-Bank customers and those familiar with the bank assessed the bank's impact on these aspects.

For the analysis and interpretation of the results, we organized the responses into an action relevance matrix, categorizing ESG aspects by the perceived importance and influence on the bank‘s reputation. This approach enabled Sparda-Bank Berlin to see which sustainability aspects respondents felt should be prioritised.

The Outcome
